See you sooner than later!!
WE BOUGHT A BUILDING!
Big News? HUGE NEWS! We'd like to announce that a bigger BETTER location is in the works for our shop in High Point- and this time, we own it! The new location is located at 314 W RUSSELL AVE. We will keep our street level small shop at 212 E Martin Luther King Jr Dr, while shuttering the doors at the original 214 location.
Feelings of change are complicated. When we opened our shop 5 yrs ago there was nothing of note on our block. We had distant friends at Julian Chichester and waaaayyy around the corner was OLY Studio. In the time that we have been there, so much has changed. The block is hopping. We are sad to leave that neighborhood. But we believe so strongly in this new building. It's bigger. It doesn't leak! It's a blank slate and we are making it exactly what we want it to be. We have added three more amazing dealers to our roster and we can't wait to introduce them to our clients beginning October 2018.
The new location is conveniently located at 314 W RUSSELL AVE. There is AMPLE public parking surrounding us (we are 1/2 a block from the Antique and Design Center lot), and we are accessible from the Green Line Shuttle stop #7- it practically drops you off at our door. Or you could just walk a block southeast of Kelly Wearstler at EJ Victor. We aren't far.
We look forward to sharing this experience with you all. For stories and info of the renovation, follow us on instagram at @214modern.

214 at Fritz Porter!
We spent the month of September inhabiting the atelier space at Fritz Porter, located in the gorgeous Cigar Factory in Charleston. Here's a little video of our temporary Charleston home...
LESS THAN TWO MONTHS AWAY- OPENING DAY!
Here we go again, gearing up for our next market. We open THURSDAY APRIL 14th, 9am. Watch the Instagram feed - @214modern- for updates!
PICTURE PAGES
As we update our website in prep for the spring showing at High Point Market, we can't help but collect and share photos from previous years. One thing is for certain, our dealers always out-do themselves, which is hard to believe when we reminisce over past offerings...
The Spring show dates are April 16th- April 20th.. as always we open a day earlier so be there bright and early on THURSDAY, APRIL 14th!
Monumental Scale + Maximum Effort: Lighting by Lewis Trimble
Earlier this year saw the grand opening of the Spectator Hotel in Charleston... a project years in the making & beautifully executed by interior designer Jenny Keenan. Our own Lewis Trimble played a particularly visible roll- that of sourcing, supplying & delivering the huge Murano crystal chandelier that graces the hotel lobby.
This massive chandelier, comprised of nearly 2,000 crystals, was custom made in Italy. Lewis spoke directly with the artisans and fabricators to have this piece made to Jenny and her team's specifications. The end result is spectacular, and the impact it makes appears to be worth the effort!
We hope to make it Charleston to see it in person soon, as well as to check out the bar & the much-talked-about cocktails. Jenny also used many vintage touches in the details of the hotel, and that is something we support wholeheartedly! Look around on the bookshelves and tabletops; many of the deco-inspired pieces came from yours truly.
Lewis has a knack for supplying fabulous one-of-a-kind lighting- before the Spectator's lobby, there was this vintage chandelier that he supplied for the Tony Bennett/ Lady Gaga performance at President Obama's 2nd Inaugural Ball:
It then briefly graced 214 before finding a home with a well known mid western interior design star.
Our dealer's go out of their way to bring the best to 214 Modern Vintage. And if we don't have it, we will call our friends in Italy and have them make it for you!
Well hey, they put us in a magazine!
When we got a call from Garden & Gun late last spring we had no idea that we would end up being featured in such a spectacular way in such a spectacular issue. The Best of Southern Style just hit new stands and it is FULL of fantastic articles highlighting stylish and innovative shops, hotels, music.. you name it. The South, from Virginia to Tennessee to Texas, really has it going on right now.
You can squint to read our piece below or catch the entire article here.
Hilary and I are pictured but what you don't see in this piece is what you really need to see in person. The full range of what we do is all about our amazing fellow dealers. Lewis Trimble, Gillian Bryce, DinnerpARTy Antiques, the Hudson Mercantile, and Beth Poindexter Couture, along with Tandem Antiques & myself... It's the entire group that makes the 6,000 sq ft of 214 Modern Vintage the place to be every High Point Market.
We will see you all Oct 15th!!
